Tossed salad and scrambled eggs

It's been a long time since I opened up Photobooth, but I couldn't help myself.  I got a package from my favorite person yesterday.  That Frasier t-shirt and some real sunglasses!  I've been wearing glasses that look just like those, but I got them for $1 at the Goodwill in Seattle and the lenses are all scratched up.  I'm pretty sure they were actually doing my eyes harm rather than protecting them.  Also in the package was a book and some sweet treats from Skye's mom!  :)

I really wish Ray-Bans and Frasier t-shirts were proper work attire because that's all I really feel like wearing today.  Oh well...

Here are some stills from yet another wonderfully bad 80s movie.  I don't know why, but lately I'm really addicted to the COMMAND SHIFT 3 keys.  I can't watch anything without taking a few screenshots...so, I feel like it's all (sort of) worth it if I 

post them on here.  

So, all in all, this movie is pretty corny and unbelievable.  The only believable thing in this movie is SJP's character.  She's so endearingly awkward and shy, yet sarcastic/smartass-like.  I love that in a girl.  Oh, I guess the fact that SJP can dance irl is pretty unbelievable---you'll notice that most dance shots were taken from like, 100 feet away.  

Anyways, it's on Instant.

Sidenote: Helen Hunt and a very young Shannon Doherty are also in this movie. 90s tv stars all over the place.

PS, I often wonder why I do this blog and I've come to the conclusion that it is purely for my benefit.  I'm glad some people read this thing, but honestly, blogging for pure public benefit sort of weirds me out.  I'm not really into over-sharing my personal life to complete strangers---it seems narcissistic to me.  But, I don't do this because I think that people out there must want to read about my life and the things I like.  I do it as a journal of sorts.  Mementos of life, I guess.  Anyways, if you do happen look at this every once in awhile, thank you! Don't be afraid to comment.  I do miss the interactive days of Livejournal. And I hope I don't bore you too much.

Aquarium.

I finally got around to uploading these photos I took on a very spectacular day that I spent with Skye last month. We started off with breakfast at Cafe Gitane (baked eggs with tomato and basil, watermelon juice, fresh fruit with yogurt and granola, and of course, the avocado toast).  After our big "feast", we F trained it out to the New York Aquarium on Coney Island.  Boy, do I love aquariums, I always have.  As a kid, I used to spend hours at the beach collecting wildlife in a bucket --- I would put all these creatures in there; crabs (hermit and regular), snails, eels, etc. and I would watch them interact with each other for a while before eventually letting them back into the wild.  Anyways, we checked out the sea life....Skye tested out his new macro lens and then we took a very quick stroll around the boardwalk,  ate some elementary-school-grade cheese pizza and a soft serve cone and headed back into the city.

Somehow, we still had the energy to see Bridesmaids (because sitting in an air conditioned theatre, eating popcorn and laughing takes tons of energy). After all this eating popcorn and laughing, we were in need of some dinner, so we walked around the East Village in search of good Japanese food.  If you know New York at all, then you know that good Japanese in plentiful in the E.Village.  And, if you know Skye and I at all, then you know that we're bad at choosing restaurants.*  So indecisive. We finally just said "*#@* it, lets eat here"  when we spotted a tiny little restaurant on 1st or 2nd Ave  where Skye ended up being the only non-Japanese dude in the place.  Needless to say, we were not disappointed---but we were exhausted.

*Also, if you know me at all, then you know that if I'm hungry and on the search for food, you better get me something to eat quick....or else. 

Rugs.

It's really hot here in Brooklyn, but that didn't stop me from going on an all out cleaning frenzy on my day off.  I moved into my apartment (found through Cragislist, bleh) about a 1.5 years ago and I'm now second in running for "longest resident" of this four bedroom abode.  Needless to say, there is a lot of crap left laying around that belongs to roommates of the past and the apartment was never stylish to begin with.  NOT AT ALL.  I mean, it feels like a hostel in here.  So... slowly but surely, I'm adding my own details into this place, trying to make it feel like a home.  Adding these rugs to a few rooms definitely helped out a lot.  Now every time I walk into the living room/kitchen/bathroom, my mind makes a little "ahhhh" sound.  (The pink one in the last picture reminds me of these Egyptian textiles).  And amazingly enough, I found them at Family Dollar for five bucks each while on a aimless walk around my neighborhood. I guess rugs really do tie a room together.... 

Want. Can't.

Oh, I don't know why I do this to myself.  Every sale season, I torture myself by browsing my favorite shop websites-even when I know very well that I shouldn't be spending money on clothes.  I came upon this Edith Miller jumper on Totokaelo and I was immediately in love. I own one striped Edith Miller boatneck top and I absolutely love it.  This jumper would definitely come in handy on these hot & muggy New York days....

I hope you guys all have a wonderful holiday weekend!  Hopefully at this time tomorrow, I'll be at that very beach in the first picture, weather permitting.  I woke up to some very loud thunder this morning and it has been raining all day....
